Express Employment Professionals, Delta, BC office is pleased to announce that the position of Edmonton based Territory Sales Representative for the North Alberta and Saskatchewan area.

Our client company is a full line distributor of quality products to the pet specialty retailer throughout western Canada with over 27 plus years of service and growth.

The successful applicant will be joining a cohesive high-performance sales group within a collaborative company structure that enhances the achievement of individual and company goals .

Position Responsibilities

  • Manage visits to pet specialty retail locations within the territory on a regular schedule that optimizes effective interactions between the retailer and our client company.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with the owners, managers and staff of retail store locations while projecting our client’s customer centric business philosophy.
  • Analyze the retailer’s current product offerings, position in the local market, pricing, staffing and operating systems.

From this information the representative will present solutions that will enhance the business of the retailer while growing sales to that customer.

  • Present products that will succeed within the retailer’s current situation. These products could be a new brand to the location or additional items of existing brands.
  • Present promotions, trade show opportunities, special discounts that may be available to the retailer.
  • Provide the retailer with staff training for products provided by our client. Also provide market trends and news to the retailer that may enhance their business.
  • Interface between the retailer and the manufacturer to facilitate communication and actions that enhance the brand performance in that store.

Secure the direct involvement of the manufacturer with the retailer on an as needed basis.

  • Coordinate and execute ride-a-longs with manufacturer representatives throughout the territory.
  • Provide competitive field intelligence to both the manufacturer and employer’s management when appropriate.
  • Interface between the retailer and employer’s internal accounting, purchasing and logistics departments. Facilitate the solution of any issues that impede successful business interaction between the retailer and employer.
  • Survey the territory for any new pet specialty retailers and once identified provide strong support for the launch of the new location.
  • Report to and take direction from the employer’s Sales Manager. Work collaboratively with the sales manager to develop a territory sales plan including all sales and scheduling activities.
  • Complete timely sales reports, shortage and damage reporting, expense account reports, participate in weekly online sales meetings and other meetings as directed by the Sales Manager.
  • Participate in exhibitor trade shows.
  • Participate in weekend retailer events

Position Requirements

  • Over Night travel
  • Outside sales experience preferably in the pet specialty industry.
  • Strong ability to manage one’s time and organize effectively.
  • Proven talent to build strong customer relationships, resolve issues and overcome objections with diplomacy.

Salary, Benefits and more

  • Base Salary $73,500
  • Bonus Potential $6,500 / quarter if sales targets are met and 3% on any sales above goal.
