Wright Tree Service of Canada, Ltd. is currently seeking an Equipment Operatorto work in various areas of Manitoba on a full-time basis.

Wright Tree Service of Canada, Ltd. provides vegetation management, storm restoration, and work planning services to utility companies and their communities across the country.

This position starts at $34.00 - $40.00 per hour , dependent on experience.

This position will be located in Manitoba . You must be able and willing to work in various areas of Manitoba. This is ten days on and 4 days off position, 40 hours plus overtime, per week.

Responsibilities (but not limited to) :

Operation of mulchers, excavators, skid steers and similar equipment

Fertilizing, including but not limited to, root injection of trees and soap application for insect control.

Landscape maintenance.

Stump grinding.

Skid-steer operations.

Helps enforce on-the-job safety practices for crew members.

Safeguards employees and public from hazards in and around the work area. Cooperates with customer, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.

Sets up barriers, warning signs, flags, etc. to protect employees as well as the public. Trained to perform tree and bucket rescue.

Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements :

Valid class 3 driver’s license with a clean driving record,

Have Airbrake endorsement or be willing to obtain

Experience operating heavy equipment such as tandem axel grapple truck and Sennebogen equipment

Grapple truck experience (preferred).

Experience in working around hazardous equipment.

Must adhere to Wright Tree Service of Canada’s Employee / Contractor Smoking, Alcohol and Drug Policy Minimum Requirements handbook.

Working around excessive noise from machines, chainsaws, woodchipper and must wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

Is exposed to all temperatures and weather; will be exposed to nature, i.e., irritating plants, biting or stinging insects, dust, etc.

May work on rough terrain.

Needs to be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times per day.

Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

Must be able to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions / information.

Must be able to communicate with others with respect and comprehend written and verbal job instructions or information while representing Wright Tree Service of Canada in a professional manner.

Possess the ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis and up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis.

Ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, storm work) and will be subject to call-out work.

Ability to operate and service all required tools and equipment.

Valid First-Aid and CPR certification preferred

Ability to work independently and self-motivate with good time management.

Flexibility with traveling in and out of town, via plane and / or vehicle.

Assistance may be required during major storm events.

Applicant must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
