Position Overview
Assess packaging designs to ensure artwork complies with our company, client, government (USA and Canada), and printer regulations and specifications.

Internal : Across the agency; Client Service Team, Project Management Team Creative Teams (predominantly the Design Directors);
Traffic Managers, IT, System and Technology teams
External : Partner and support SGS prepress
Responsible for...
- Reads the work order, docket and spec sheets for job requirements
- Evaluating designs to ensure consistency to brand standards and ensures consistent artwork for related packaging
- An eye for typesetting quality and overall aesthetics
- Assess artwork as it relates to Government Regulatory and Legislative copy size and placement requirements for both Canadian and American packaging
- A strong understanding of the technical requirements for all types of packaging (i.e. : rollovers, bleeds, panel alignments, panel orientation etc.)
- Confirms colour rotation & # of colours are correct as per work order
- Confirms image bleeds, roll overs and panel cross match are okay
- Confirms UPC code using Best Practice
- Reviews and confirms holdbacks, overprints, knockouts, minimum type and line thickness accordingly, to specs supplied.
- Performs a Quality Control checklist according to Marks Best Practices
- Assist in identifying areas of improvement to the design process. Works with senior management to implement resolutions
Critical Skills and Behaviors
- Experience with comparative software (Remote Approval, Backstage Viewer, Dot Spy) is an asset
- Strong understanding of print process including Lithography and offset, Flexographic, Gravure and Dry Offset
- Proven experience using MAC software including Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail.

- Ability to work and problem solve independently
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Prerequisites
- Secondary education in Graphics Design or related field
- years of experience working in Packaging Design, Prepress or Printer environment
- Computer literacy, including familiarity with both iOS and Windows
