Join our team as we are looking for a full-time EHS Advisor based out of St. Catherines Ontario
Under the general direction of the EHS Manager, the EHS Advisor is responsible to support with guiding AFL team members to champion health and safety compliance on AFL Canada’s project sites.
In addition, the EHS Advisor will work with and function as a resource to front line supervisors and operations staff to achieve AFL’s goal of zero incidents.

Under the general direction of the EHS Manager, the position is responsible to support with guiding AFL team members to champion health and safety compliance on AFL Canada’s project sites.
In addition, the successful incumbent will work with and act as a resource to front line supervisors and operations staff to achieve AFL’s goal of zero incidents.
Responsibilities:
- Provide or arrange training and education to AFL’s employees in health and safety
- Conduct New Hire Orientation
- Monitor health, safety and environmental protection compliance at the project level by conducting workplace inspections and audits.
- Provide advice and interpretation of local government requirements and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations and codes.
- Participate in the development of project-specific safety programs for new projects
- Conduct EHS related meetings with the support of the field manager
- Ensure all EHS documentation and records are collected and maintained in accordance with company operating practices
- Assist line management and the safety committee in the investigation of accidents and near-misses, including: identifying root causes and trends as well as recommending accident prevention methods.
- Participate in the formal hazard assessment process by facilitating JHA creation and reviews with crews
- Track and maintain PPE for the business unit
- Create or revise Safe Work Practices and Procedure
- Act as an active leader in promoting EHS processes and programs towards exceeding EHS process and programs towards exceeding EHS goals
- Support and promote AFL’s core values of safety, quality, integrity, sustainability and success
- Help build and maintain positive relations within the team
- Protect organizations’ values by keeping information confidential
- Perform other administrative and miscellaneous duties as requested, directed or assigned
- Enhance organizational reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment.
- Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL

Qualifications:
- 2-3 years EHS experience in the telecommunications and/or construction
- Possession or Pursuit of NCSO, CSSO or other professional HSE designation is beneficial
- Have and maintain a valid professional driver's license with reasonably infraction free driving record
- Basic knowledge of local government health & safety acts, policies, regulations, codes and practices as they apply to the telecommunication/construction industries
- Experience in conducting training and formal presentations to audiences of various sizes and types
- Proficient in MS Office application including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Working Conditions:
- 40 hours/week
- Ability to work extended work hours as the need arises, as in the case of emergencies at a work-site, may be required
- Travel to various sites and locations
