We are the leading provider of Academic-Dental software solutions in North America with clients located around the world.
Our products enable education institutions to train the next generation of dental professions to deliver dental care to a variety of markets, including the underserved and uninsured.
Our core on-premises product is powering over 90% of the market and our cloud product is targeted for 300% growth over the next 12 months.
Working within the Product team, you’ll create and update technical and non-technical materials such as reference guides, user manuals, articles, software release notes, product help files, and other appropriate documentation for Exan’s on-premises and cloud software products for the Academic dental market.
You may also review and edit web pages, marketing and sales materials, training documentation, and general inquiries.
Your writing should be clear and concise, with a strong end-user focus. We assume you know how to follow format, content, and style guidelines.
Ideally, you’re obsessed with accuracy, consistency, and quality.
As a pivotal resource within Exan, you’ll serve as an expert source for all internal teams and work independently to consistently maintain and improve our documentation materials and processes.
This role is more than just writing how-to guides : we’re looking for someone who can interpret product capabilities and describe it in the context of a user’s needs, distilling complex ideas and tasks into easy-to-understand content.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develop a thorough knowledge of Exan’s software products.
- Create and maintain release notes, manuals, help files, how-to articles and other knowledge content describing technical and non-technical aspects of the software, with limited supervision.
- Review and edit web pages, marketing and sales materials, and responses to general inquiries.
- Create and edit training materials.
- Collaborate with other teams, including engineering and support, to ensure the accuracy of all documentation and materials.
- In all aspects of writing, focus on customer needs and usability.
- Prepare new templates, outlines, and layouts for content, when needed.
- Evaluate and learn new software and technologies; prepare written recommendations regarding potential technologies, hardware needs, and cost-effectiveness.
- Help train internal staff on Exan products and related subjects.
Qualifications :
- 3-4 years of work experience developing technical content for complex software / products, both for internal and external audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Self-driven, highly motivated, with the ability to multitask.
- Ability to work both independently and with a greater team.
- Ability to adapt to changing business needs and customer requirements.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MadCap Flare is required.
- Experience in Zendesk, Confluence, Jira, and Gitlab is an asset.
- Dental or medical industry experience is an asset.

The posted range for this position is between CAD $70,000 - CAD $77,000 which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient and experienced in the role.
Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, training, current skills, certifications & education etc.
