As a Disability Case Management Specialist, you will be accountable for processing and coordinating all activities relating to occupational and non-occupational absences including workers compensation, short-term, and long-term disability claims. Execute, provide advice and case management expertise to employees, managers, HR colleagues and third-party providers. How YOU will make a difference :
Provide active case management of short-term and long-term disability claims, and Workers’ Compensation claims, working in collaboration with third parties (., insurers, disability claims vendors, Workers Compensation representatives), Managers, Human Resources and EmployeesResponsible for gathering required information, completing and submitting required forms; and ensuring that disability programs are effectively managed within company guidelines and legal parametersEnsure accurate and timely tracking of case information and communication of decisionsWork with managers and applicable third party on root cause analysis of occupational and non-occupational incidents.Conduct and review investigation reports and communicate trends to Health and SafetySupport collaborative return to work planning with managers and HR representatives, minimizing lost time and ensuring program effectiveness (. review of functional abilities forms, review requests for modified duties,Conduct return to work screening conversations and follow-up on associated plans for various absences (. Return from absences related to Covid, Occupational and Non-Occupational absences,Provide regular reporting and conduct trend analyses (. Disability Absence Trend Reports, Joint-Health and Safety Scorecards, Motor Vehicle Accidents Reports, NEER and Cost Statements,Proactively identify areas of opportunity, develop and conduct training presentations related to disability managementRemain current with respect to best practices and legislation impacting disability managementConduct work as assigned related to the company benefits programPerform and participate in other department related programs and initiatives as requiredWhat YOU bring to the role :
Comprehensive knowledge of disability management (occupational and non-occupational) program principles and practicesStrong understanding of related legislation pertaining to disability management, Workers Compensation, return to work and accommodation, etc.Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or Health SciencesCertified Disability Management Professional designation is preferred (or work in progress towards designation)3 to 5 years related work experience in occupational and non-occupational disability managementExcellent technical skills with advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially ExcelExperience in handling occupational and non-occupational disability casesExperience in working with third parties (insurers, Workers Compensation representatives)Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with superior attention to detail and accuracyVery strong organizational skills, including balancing multiple responsibilities, effectively meeting deadlines and handling high work volumeBeing adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced, changing environmentExcellent interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal), able to communication effectively with all levels, exercising tact, diplomacy and sensitivityAbility to build strong working relationships with all stakeholdersProven ability to work independently as well as within a team environmentA positive, “can do” attitude with a very strong customer-focused approach and the ability to deal with challenging situations in a timely manner with integrity, empathy and sincerityWorking conditions :
