Role : Controls Software Designer

Type : 6 month contract

Location : Onsite 5x / week in Cambridge, ON

Rate : $38-$40 / hr

JOB DESCRIPTION

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Controls Software Engineer with 4–5 years of hands-on expertise in Allen-Bradley Rockwell PLCs and exposure to other PLC platforms. This role is highly integration-focused (approximately 80%), involving troubleshooting, maintenance, and programming across three production lines for a cutting-edge wearable diabetic device. You will work closely with a team of 15 designers and programmers on large-scale automation projects, where experience with ABB robotics is considered a strong asset. Responsibilities include commissioning, system integration, and supporting advanced automation solutions. The position requires travel to the U.S. and Europe for up to six weeks and offers the opportunity to contribute to an innovative product at our Cambridge, Ontario site.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 4-5+ years of experience in PLC programming and integration in an automation or similar environment
• Minimum 2 years of integration experience in Rockwell Allen Bradley PLC
• Solid integration experience with a background in maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning PLC equipment
• Ability to travel to both the US and Ireland for up to 6 weeks for commissioning
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
