We are seeking a Engineering Manager to join our team and lead our efforts in building innovative open source software in the container management space.

As a key member of the Longhorn & Harvester team, you will be responsible for managing teams, exploring new ideas, and working on new and developing projects.

Your primary focus will be to deliver solutions that enhance the user experience of cloud-native platforms such as Kubernetes and simplify the process of running containerized workloads.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide direct and ongoing leadership for an organization, designing and developing new products, enhancements, and updates, and managing software projects.
  • Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects and programs, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency across teams.
  • Oversee people-care management for direct reports, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development;

drive and foster organization-wide performance standards, expectations, and practices to support ongoing team member and process development.

Education and Experience Required :

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • Typically 8 or more years of related work experience, including 5 or more years of people management experience.

Recommended Knowledge and Skills :

  • Experience with development in cloud or container technologies
  • Hands-on technical knowledge (Golang, Kubernetes), ability to work closely with the team and provide guidance
  • Advanced leadership skills, including coaching, teambuilding, conflict resolution, and management in an agile environment
  • Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience in managing team members across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results
