Qualifications :
- Minimum of a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent(i.e. General Education Development (GED) or Academic and CareerEntrance (ACE)).
- Previous housekeepingexperience preferably in a retirement home long term care facilityetc. is required.
- An understanding of the needsand issues of the older adult is required.
- Anunderstanding of effective Infection Prevention and Controlpractices is required.
- Familiarity with WHMISOccupational Health and Safety and SanitationCode.
- Availability to work weekdays / weekendsand for oncall coverage for sick call replacement isrequired.
- Good attendance record isrequired.
- Satisfactory CriminalRecord Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required (datedwithin 6 months of start ofemployment).
- TwoStepTB testing isrequired.
- Bilingualism(English / French) is an asset.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge ofinfection control cleaning and isolation procedures including wastehandling and managementprocedures.
- Demonstrated ability to understandinterpret and apply written and oral instructions includingdilutions Safety Data Sheets (S.
D.S.) policies andprocedures.
- Demonstrated ability to pushequipment and carts and safely lift a minimum of 25kilograms.
- Demonstrated computer skills withbasic proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word Excel andOutlook) and applicable patient informationsystems.
- Demonstrated ability to effectivelyinteract and communicate with patients families and healthcareworkers.
- Demonstrated ability to workeffectively and efficiently as a team member in a fastpacedenvironment.
- Demonstrated interpersonal andcommunication skills.
- Ability to prioritizetasks.
- Ability to follow instructions isrequired.
- Ability to do extensive standingwalking squatting kneeling and lifting of objects up to 50lbs isrequired.
