The City of Delta is seeking a qualified Facility Service Worker for a regular full-time position at municipal recreation facilities in North Delta, Ladner, and Tsawwassen. The position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of recreation facilities, including arena ice plants, aquatic facilities, building systems, and custodial services, and for supervising and participating in the work of facility staff.
Responsibilities
- Operates, monitors, and maintains HVAC, refrigeration and ice-making equipment, pool filtration and chlorination systems, and related building systems.
- Performs ice maintenance, aquatic operations including water quality testing, general building maintenance, minor repairs, and custodial duties.
- Establishes and maintains preventative maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment.
- Plans, assigns, schedules, checks, and participates in the work of facility staff; assists with training.
- Coordinates and monitors work performed by contractors and trades, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.
- Responds to service requests and work orders.
- May be required to prepare budget estimates and monitors operational expenditures.
Desirable Training & Experience
Journeyperson certification or experience in a recognized building trade, or training in facilities maintenance, property management, or a related technical discipline.Experience in the operation and maintenance of recreation or institutional facilities, including arenas, aquatic facilities, and general building systems; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Required Qualifications
Pool Operator Certificate, Level IIRefrigerator Operator Certificate or equivalent5th Class Power Engineering CertificateValid Class 5 Driver’s Licence for the Province of British ColumbiaThe City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $34.30- $40.34 per hour (2024 rates)(commensurate with experience) and an excellent benefits package including the Municipal Pension Plan.
