Accountant

Great opportunity for an Accountant available immediately to join a very successful and well-established international company in an exciting industry.

This is a 6-week contract to fill in for someone currently on leave, possible extension.

Who- the Company :

Our client, an industry leader offers an inspiring and dynamic work environment focused on teamwork, commitment and leadership.

What- the Role :

The Accountant is responsible for overseeing complete journal entries and general accounting-related tasks for the month-end close activities for our client.

  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions such as, but not limited to reporting, account coding and reviewing payables, and calculations for entries.
  • Review and post AP batch transactions, manage cash balances and process bank payments.
  • Prepare and enter journal entries including system downloads into the accounting system to meet month-end accounting requirements.
  • Provide month-end reconciliations to the GL and prepare weekly and / or monthly reports and statements.
  • Assist with global reporting requirements and support on internal & external audits.
  • Positively drive agreed initiatives, propose new initiatives and adopt a sense of continuous improvement.

Who- the Candidate :

  • A degree in Finance or Accounting and preferably enrolled in obtaining your CPA designation.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the industry.
  • Experience with Oracle and Maximo systems are an asset.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage timelines.
  • Exceptional computer skills and ability to quickly learn new software.
  • A willingness to take initiative to solve problems and a desire to identify process improvements.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clear and concise information with all departments and levels in an accurate and informative manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with your team and other departments.

    • How Much :

    34.50 - $35.50 + 4% vacation pay.

    Where :

    Burnaby, 5 days’ onsite, along Skytrain line.
