We are looking for a Safety Supervisor at our Head Office located in Sherwood Park. This position works Monday to Friday, 8 : 00AM - 4 : 30PM.

The Safety Supervisor reports directly to the Safety Manager. They are responsible for the development, maintenance and improvement of Caron Transportation Systems safety and training programs and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and policies.

The Safety Supervisor oversees and conducts New Hire Orientations and relevant internal training in addition to leading the Emergency Response Team, responding to on-site emergencies, and works with internal and external stakeholders regarding safety issues.

Job Duties :

  • Operational Responsibilities Conduct safety orientations and training for new and existing employees both online and in class Develop and update training courses Responsible for Caron Emergency Response Team activities including : Train additional Caron Emergency Response Team members Participate in on-call for emergency response Oversee and coordinate on-scene field level emergency response Complete regulatory reports Maintain EMR trailer to ensure readiness Conduct route risk assessments and new customer site assessments Conduct spot audits at various locations and support on OH&S issues
  • Administrative Responsibilities Creating, maintaining, and communicating safety-related policies and procedures Assist with Supervision of Safety Team, hours of service and Samsara Internal support Manage the Samsara platform and send non-compliance report(s) to Terminal Managers Manage incident reporting system Ensure information is entered and follow up to ensure corrective action Review and update internal documentation and controls to comply with regulatory and compliance updates and changes Oversee OHS committee(s) to ensure they are following federal and provincial regulations as applicable
  • Safety Responsibilities Assist, coordinate, and participate in company audits Challenge carrier profile points in relation to company vehicle accidents by;

submitting appropriate documentation to regulatory agency Participate in incident investigations with terminals, determine root cause and identify retraining requirements Present relevant safety training topics to terminal staff in all departments at safety meetings Conduct investigation interviews with terminals Injury Prevention Complete root cause analysis, identify trends and implement training for Injury Prevention Complete and submit reports to governing bodies Incident / Accident Prevention Complete root cause analysis, identify trends and implement training for incident / accident prevention Complete and submit reports to governing bodies Participate in all safety related programs and education

Our Ideal Candidate :

  • 3+ years of directly related experience
  • Degree, diploma, and / or safety certification, preferably in transportation
  • Valid drivers’ license, Class 1 is considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with others
  • Sound analytical thinking, problem solving, planning, prioritization, decision making, and execution skills
  • Excellent written and verbal computer skills
  • Proficient computer skills, using MS Office Suite; with the ability to product timely and high-quality reports and documentation
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic
