Job opportunityThe Corporation of the Town of Orangeville invites applications for the position ofCamp CounsellorCommunity Services department(Full-time contract dates : June 29 2026 to August 28 2026)Mandatory training dates : Juneand 23Position descriptionThe Town of Orangeville is seeking twenty-four (24) Camp Counsellors for the planning delivery and general administration of the Towns 2026 summer camps. Duties of the position will include planning camp activities with a focus on safe and inclusive programming; leading and participating in camp activities; ensuring materials and supplies are prepared and program areas are clean and tidy; attending staff meetings; participating in pool activities as required; incorporating HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development into daily programming; completing attendance; communicating with parents regarding programming scheduling or concerns; checking program areas and equipment for safety cleanliness and good repair; and other duties as assigned. Camp Counsellors may also be expected to work up to two weeks at the Neighbourhood Block Box program. The successful candidates will be expected to work some weekends depending on program and training needs. Mandatory camp training days are scheduled in June and successful candidates must be available to work on Canada Day. Hours of work will be forty (40) hours per week during camps depending on business of Grade one (1) year of work experience in a camp / recreation / program settingEnrollment in a post-secondary education program related to recreation or education would be an FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development would be an Standard First Aid / CPRExcellent communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and ExcelHourly Rate : $20.96 to $22.67 (2026 rate)Please note : Virtual interview formats are candidates will be required to complete a background check including either a vulnerable sector check or a criminal record and judicial matters check as permitted under Ontarios Police Record Checks Reform Act and in accordance with the duties of the Town student positions are subject to budget approval and thus may be subject to candidates are invited to apply no later than 12 p.m. on February 13 2026.
