Project Control Manager
We’re excited to share an incredible opportunity for an experienced Project Controls Manager to join our client’s Mining team, based in either Calgary or Saskatoon.
If you choose to work out of Calgary, be prepared for regular travel to Saskatoon, which could amount to approximately 50% of your time.
Non-local applicants to Saskatoon may also be eligible for a Living Out Allowance (LOA).
About the Role : As a Project Controls Manager, you’ll oversee cost engineering, estimating, cost analysis / control, and planning / scheduling activities for major projects.
You will be instrumental in setting up project controls, managing schedules, and cost-related changes, and ensuring robust planning and execution.
You will also lead and guide a talented Project Controls team, ensuring adherence to safety standards and leveraging advanced project technologies and systems.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage day-to-day cost control, planning, and scheduling, including assigning tasks to the Project Controls team.
- Set up project controls, including coding and reporting systems.
- Review and approve schedules, cost changes, forecasts, and progress reports within your authority.
- Verify claimed progress and oversee progress measurement, coordinating with the Integrated Project Team and contractors.
- Provide leadership and oversight for project controls staff, ensuring effective supervision and resource allocation.
- Promote and uphold a strong safety culture within the project team.
- Analyze construction progress and preemptively communicate any concerns or issues to the leadership team.
- Utilize existing tools and systems for project setup, coding, and reporting.
- Manage progress measurement, earned value tracking, and interface directly with contractors.
- Lead the Project Controls team in generating regular status updates and high-quality management reports.
- Oversee the development of project forecasts and ensure comprehensive variance analysis, offering solutions for any identified risks.
- Facilitate and support project reviews and audits.
What We’re Looking For :
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent blend of education, training, and hands-on experience.
- 15-20 years of relevant project experience, with significant exposure to site-based roles and comprehensive knowledge in estimating, cost control, planning, and change management.
- At least 10 years in a leadership capacity, demonstrating exceptional people management skills.
- Expertise in quality management processes, systems, and audit procedures for major project delivery.
- Proficiency in project control software, such as EcoSys, Primavera P6, SAP, and Oracle.
- Solid understanding of large capital project workflows across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, health & safety, risk, and related disciplines.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders, including functional managers, discipline leads, clients, vendors, and contractors.
