What you’ll do :
Key Job Responsibilities :

- Be dependable for all scheduled shifts.
- Prepare and coordinate period end and year-end financial statements
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other reconciliations.
- Ensure financials complies with relevant accounting standards.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, amortization, and other adjustments.
- Review general ledger accounts for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness.
- Maintain supporting schedules, including fixed assets, inventory, and other key accounts.
- Assist with annual budget preparation by gathering and analyzing relevant financial data.
- Perform variance analysis and provide clear explanations to management.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and financial controls.
- Work closely with commodity and departmental managers to understand business lines and explain financial results.
- Support internal and external auditing requirements, including preparation of working papers and documentation.
- Respond to auditor inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare GST, PST, Motor Fuel Tax, and other statutory filings as required.
- Support project tracking and financial monitoring.
- Perform cost and margin analysis to support profitability assessment and decision-making.
- Conduct inventory analysis and investigations to identify discrepancies, trends, and control issues.
- Support special projects and process improvement initiatives; make recommendations to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls
- Work independently on assigned tasks while exercising sound judgment to escalate issues as appropriate.
- Ensure an exceptional level of service is provided.
- Adhere to and enforce all Dawson Co-operative Union policies and procedures.
- Adhere to and enforce all Dawson Co-operative Union health and safety standards per the Health and Safety manual.
- Plan for self-development and take initiative to improve own knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Who are you : Qualifications :
Post-secondary degree in Business Administration or Commerce with a focus in Accounting or Finance, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Minimum 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience.Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and financial close processes.Proficiency in accounting systems, with a preference for experience with JD Edwards, and software systems, such as Microsoft Excel.Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.High level of integrity and professionalism.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.Valid Class Five driver’s license with a clean abstract.Ability to undergo and receive clearance for a criminal records check.Satisfactory credit report / history.What we offer :
