Job descriptionUrology Dermatology Pediatrics Obstetrics and Gynecology Construction is underway on the new Dawson Creek & District Hospital, anticipated to open in Spring 2027. Completion of BCCNM approved Master’s degree level nurse practitioner program. Eligible for registration as a Nurse Practitioner with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients / clients / residents and families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, self-care and prognosis. Ability to collaborate, consult with and formally refer patients / clients / residents to physicians and other health professionals when appropriate. Ability to critically assess and evaluate health research literature to determine best practices; ability to introduce education and evidence-based research. Ability to assess and recognize population health trends; ability to plan and implement strategies for population-based prevention and health promotion. Ability to implement and evaluate planned change. Ability to supervise others and evaluate the care they deliver. Ability to lead a team and work within a team. Ability to self-direct, interact, and adapt effectively with other professionals in complex, dynamic situations. Ability to transfer knowledge, teach, coach and mentor others. Ability to identify and respond appropriately to legal and ethical issues that may arise in patient / resident / client care. Ability to self-assess performance and assume responsibility and accountability for own professional development, educational or consultative assistance when appropriate.
Position Summary
The Opportunity
Northern Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Emergency Department team at Dawson Creek and District Hospital. This dynamic role involves providing emergency care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced, team-based care environment. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with physicians and emergency nurses, supported by telemedicine tools and flexible scheduling. Advanced certifications required : ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and CASTED.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and manage CTAS 1 – 5 patients.
Collaborate with physicians and emergency department nurses to deliver high-quality emergency care.
Utilize PowerChart or paper-based documentation systems.
Engage with virtual services to support emergency care delivery.
Contribute to a team-based approach to emergency medicine.

The city is also known as the Mile Zero City, as it marks the start of the Alaska Highway, a 2,400 km long highway connecting Alaska and the Yukon to Western Canada and the United States. Dawson Creek and District Hospital is a full-service community hospital that provides services to Dawson Creek and surrounding communities. It has 31 Acute Care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. Dawson Creek is the Orthopaedic Trauma and Surgical Centre for the Northeast Region of BC. Services include :

Salary Range
New Graduate NP - $145,739
1 Year Experience - $153,026
2 Years Experience - $160,313
