Job Overview

The General Manager (GM) at Doiron Sports Excellence is responsible for leading and overseeing all store operations while creating and refining processes that ensure long-term success.

The GM will lead by example, mentor staff, ensure excellent customer service, and design efficient systems to optimize daily operations.

The successful candidate will be results-driven with strong leadership, financial acumen, and the ability to foster a positive and innovative work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the team to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Develop and implement ongoing training programs to enhance staff knowledge and align team goals with the store’s mission.
  • Create a supportive and accountable work environment, focusing on teamwork, development, and continuous improvement.
  • Customer Service Excellence
  • Design and implement customer service processes that ensure each customer feels valued and receives personalized attention.
  • Foster a culture of exceptional customer service by setting high standards and providing employees with the tools and knowledge to exceed customer expectations.
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns in a timely, professional manner, creating solutions that strengthen customer loyalty to Doiron Sports Excellence.
  • Operational Management & Process Creation
  • Create and refine store operations processes to maximize efficiency, from staff scheduling to inventory management.
  • Develop clear guidelines for daily operations, ensuring that all systems, such as POS operations, compliance, and maintenance, are functioning smoothly and meeting company standards.
  • Oversee inventory processes, ensuring accurate stock levels, timely reordering, and optimizing space for best-selling products.
  • Ensure that store equipment, technology, and facilities are properly maintained and meet safety and operational compliance standards.
  • Financial & Strategic Planning
  • Lead the development and management of the store’s budget, creating financial plans that align with growth goals while managing costs.
  • Design systems to track financial performance, including sales targets, cost control measures, and profitability analyses.
  • Work with ownership on strategic planning initiatives that align with Doiron Sports Excellence's long-term vision and growth potential.
  • Process & System Development
  • Continuously assess and improve existing systems and processes, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and better service delivery.
  • Create new processes for areas like staff training, customer feedback, inventory management, and marketing campaigns to streamline store operations.
  • Ensure all systems are fully documented, communicated to the team, and enforced consistently to maintain high operational standards.
  • Community Engagement & Innovation
  • Design processes to engage the local community through events, partnerships, and outreach efforts to enhance brand presence.
  • Continuously seek out new and innovative ideas to improve store performance and customer engagement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Leadership Experience : Proven ability to create, implement, and oversee processes while leading and mentoring teams.
  • Customer-Centric : Experience in designing systems that improve customer experience and satisfaction.
  • Financial Acumen : Expertise in budgeting, financial planning, and profit management.
  • Process-Oriented : Strong ability to create and improve operational processes across customer service, sales, and inventory management.
  • Strategic Planning : Expertise in developing and implementing growth strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Communication & Organization : Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • High Energy & Enthusiasm : Passionate about driving innovation, engaging with the community, and creating a positive store atmosphere.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail Management Experience : Previous experience managing a retail store, especially within the sports or outdoor industry, with a focus on sales growth, team leadership, and community engagement.
  • Budgeting & Accounting Expertise : Demonstrated ability to create, manage, and adjust budgets effectively to meet financial goals.

Experience with accounting principles, including cost management, financial reporting, and cash flow analysis, is a strong asset.

  • Process Creation & Improvement : Strong experience in developing and implementing processes that improve store operations, including inventory management, staff scheduling, customer service workflows, and compliance standards.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making : Ability to analyze sales trends, market conditions, and financial reports to make informed decisions that drive profitability.
  • Experience with Retail Technology : Familiarity with retail management software (POS systems, inventory management tools) and the ability to implement technology to improve efficiency and accuracy in store operations.
  • Sales & Marketing Knowledge : Understanding of retail sales strategies, product promotions, and customer engagement techniques.

Experience in community outreach and event planning is a plus.

  • Project Management : Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards for execution.
  • Problem-Solving & Innovation : Experience in identifying operational challenges and creating innovative solutions to overcome them, with a focus on continuous improvement.
