The Opportunity
The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring plant operations meet production and sales demands in a cost‑optimized, safe and environmentally responsible manner. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the incumbent oversees operating personnel, sets clear goals, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. The role ensures high‑quality production and customer satisfaction.
What You’ll Do
- Define direction of plant activities and align team goals
- Manage production operations involving multiple resources and tasks
- Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes
- Contribute to new and existing safety initiatives to raise plant safety standards
- Communicate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to fulfill customer orders
- Serve as a trusted advisor for internal colleagues and external clients on production activities
- Equip plant personnel with appropriate tools and processes to support successful operations
- Ensure timely execution of high‑quality, low‑cost customer orders in accordance with policy, including health and safety
- Set well‑defined goals and monitor performance against key performance indicators
- Apply people and performance management processes to set expectations and conduct performance reviews
- Use labor relations knowledge to handle union issues and collective agreements
- Consider critical factors such as capital projects, hiring, performance, environmental, safety, and budgeting in decision‑making
- Serve as backup to the Plant Manager or another Atlantic Operations Manager as designated by the Vice President of Manufacturing
Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a packaging plant manufacturing production environmentKnowledge of high‑speed packaging systemsEngineering related university degree (e.g., Mechanical, Process)Proven safety leadership with incident‑free operations and a culture of accountabilityTrack record of maximizing production performance while maintaining rigorous quality standards and cost efficiencyExperience developing high‑performing operations teams through coaching, capability building, and alignment with safety, quality, and environmental objectivesExperience leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing systems and plant performanceExperience leading operations‑focused teams (e.g., performance management, conflict management)Knowledge of best practices in operations management – asset effectiveness, cycle time reduction, workforce flexibilityWhat We Offer

Legal & Compensation
Candidate who are 18 years or older are required to complete a criminal and background check. Hiring Range : $101,000 – $126,000 per year. This posting is for an existing vacancy.
