Overview

TheAssistant Accounting Manager works closely with the AccountingManager to oversee the financial operations and reporting of thecompany.

This role involves assisting in managing the accountingteam ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards andproviding financial analysis and guidance tomanagement.

Accountabilities

AccountingFunctions :

  • Assistin conducting financial analysis to support decisionmaking andstrategic planning. Aid in evaluating investment opportunitiescostsaving initiatives and revenuegenerating activities.
  • Performfull cycle accounting overseeing all general accounting operations.
  • Preparegovernment remittances GST / PST payroll and corporate tax accordingto all statutory deadlines.
  • Reviewand maintain monthly bank statements and general ledgerreconciliations.
  • Preparemonthly quarterly and year end accounting report.
  • Collaboratewith department heads to assist in the development of annualbudgets and forecasts. Assist in monitoring variances betweenactual results and budgeted amounts providing insights andrecommendations for improvement.
  • Performfinancial analysis on Project costing and Revenue.
  • Examinemanufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standardcosts to actual production costs (Per unit Cost / Activity basecosting)
  • Ensurefinancial recording accuracy and compliance with establishedaccounting standards (ASPE) procedures and internal controls.
  • Leadspecial projects and Provide recommendations to improve accountingpractices. Establish priorities initiate new ideas and concepts todeal with problems and to improve efficiency.
  • Forwardthinkingpreparation and coordination of fiscal yearend audits workingpapers for the company in preparation for the auditors.

Serving asa liaison to external auditors

Leadership :

  • LeadCoach and Mentor direct reports ensuring smooth operations of theaccounting department and maintaining synergistic relationshipswith all other departments.
  • Supportrecruiting staffing training and onboarding processes asappropriate.
  • Ensuresexcellent customer service is delivered to internal customers andsuppliers.
  • Coachsupervise mentor plan and allocate resources manage performance ofdirect reports.

Education

  • Bachelor’sdegree in business or a financerelateddiscipline .
  • CharteredProfessional Accountant (CPA) designation or in progress is anasset .

Experience / Capabilities

  • 5years experience as a General Accountant & 2 yearexperience as supervisory role.
  • Experienceusing Financial Software Sage Systems MS Suite.
  • Intermediateto advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Workingknowledge of accounting principles credit practices and collectionregulations.
  • Strongknowledge of Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Meticulousin attention to detail and accuracy coupled with exceptional followup skills.
  • Updatejob knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Stronganalytical critical thinking problem solving and decisionmakingskills to evaluate alternatives and provide recommendations forpayroll related issues.
  • Demonstrateprioritization balance competing demands organization skills andtime management.
  • Abilityto work independently and effectively under pressure.
  • Stronginterpersonal skills with the ability to relate to and connect atall levels of the organization.
  • Excellentorganization and communication skills with the ability toeffectively convey ideas both verbally and in writing.
  • Veryhigh integrity ethical and trustworthy.
