The Bilingual EHS Manager will play a crucial role in deploying, implementing, and leading the Health and Safety agenda for Carmichael’s Operations in Quebec.
By working collaboratively with the Management team, you will integrate prevention, workers' compensation, and regulatory compliance into everyday work life.
Your engagement with leaders and employees will be instrumental in improving the Quebec region's performance and employee awareness, thereby reducing the risk of safety incidents.
Your role in providing tools and systems that deliver high health and safety performance is invaluable. Your collaborative, proactive, and creative problem-solving ability will be key in developing best-in-class Health and Safety programs, thereby enhancing the overall Health and Safety strategy.
Under the guidance and with the strong support of the Senior Director, Environmental Health & Safety, successful candidates will be entrusted with the following responsibilities :
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Responsible for developing and implementing health and safety program initiatives, policies, and procedures.
- Lead incident investigations
- Ensures compliance in accordance with legislative directives
- Partner with the Carmichael EHS team in the implementation of identified prioritized health and safety initiatives
- Establish and maintain procedures ensuring the appropriate sourcing of safety-related tools, equipment, and supplies
- Provide advisory and consultative services to management and employees
- Conduct analysis of hazards, and safety statistics. Recommending corrective measures, plan modifications, and supporting the Company’s Safety Programs’ Goals and Objectives.
- Responsible for the overall implementation and success of the health and safety management program and its affiliated elements
- Responsible for monitoring and advising management of any changes in legislative compliances. Coordinating all safety compliance requirements as needed.
- Providing consultative support to Supervisors and Management on appropriate safety culture processes
- Responsible for the overall safety performance management and a culture of employee engagement.
Required Qualifications :

- University degree or college diploma in a relevant field (e.g. occupational health & safety, environmental and / or safety engineering, safety management, industrial hygiene, sciences);
- Certification in CRSP, CSO, NCSO, GSC-CSC, CSP, CIH, etc.
- Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in service and / or construction industry-leading and improving safety performance and regulatory compliance
- You are confident and competent with strong communication and presentation skills. You are diplomatic, professional and exercise great judgment in developing and maintaining excellent relationships within and outside of the business (i.
e., external regulatory agencies)
