Senior Substation Engineer - Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Gryphon Oakwood are seeking a talented Senior Substation Engineer, PE for an engineering firm that specializes in energy projects, throughout Canada the United States.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work with team to design substation protection schemes and develop layout of high voltage substation equipment
- Manage engineering design for substation projects including quality, schedule, and budget
- Act as the engineer of record for responsible projects
- Interface with internal and external team members such as substation engineers, solar engineers, study engineers, project coordinators, electrical designers, drafters, and project managers
- Take ownership of projects to meet and exceed client expectations
- Prepare and review equipment specifications and procurement documents
- Perform QA / QC of substation design packages
- Develop recommendations for equipment and material per requirements and safety guidelines
Requirements
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years’ experience in HV substation design
- Experience as a project engineer or lead engineer
- Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) / (P.Eng) license
- Strong understanding of applicable industry codes and standards
- Power transformer specification design
- Substation equipment specification experience
- Support / Lead development of standards, optimizations, and processes
- Must be client centered with focus on high quality and innovation
