Job Summary
We are seeking a site-based Civil Engineer with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in microtunnelling, including direct exposure to Herrenknecht microtunnelling systems, to support the execution and control of trenchless construction works on active project sites in Canada.
This position requires on-site presence and close coordination with construction, survey, and equipment teams.
Duties
- Provide day-to-day engineering support for microtunnelling operations using Herrenknecht AVN / slurry systems
- Conduct site visits to gather relevant information
- Monitor and control tunnelling parameters recommending appropriate equipment including face pressure, jacking forces, torque, advance rates, and lubrication
- Conduct technical analyses of survey and field data for development of topographic, soil, hydrological or other information and prepare reports
- Review and interpret machine data and production records; identify trends and recommend corrective measures while ensuring plans, data, and equipment meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations
- Develop construction specifications and procedures
- Coordinate line and grade control in collaboration with survey personnel
- Support and supervise pipe jacking operations, including intermediate jacking stations and lubrication systems
- Coordinate launch and reception shaft activities and interface with temporary works
- Implement approved method statements, risk assessments, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates
- Maintain QA / QC documentation, daily reports, and as-built records
- Liaise with Herrenknecht technicians, subcontractors, and site supervision
- Assist with troubleshooting related to ground conditions, slurry balance, cutterhead performance, and overcut control
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with project specifications, safety requirements, and applicable regulations
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum two (2) years of hands-on site experience in microtunnelling or slurry TBM operationsExperience working with Herrenknecht microtunnelling equipment is requiredKnowledge of trenchless construction techniques and soil–machine interactionFamiliarity with slurry separation plants, jacking systems, and guidance / navigation systemsAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, alignment profiles, and geotechnical informationProficiency in English is required to safely perform job duties, including communication, reporting, and compliance documentationStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work in an active construction environmentCompensation & Benefits :
