Professional and Part-Time Learning (PPL) requires a part-time Field Placement Facilitator to teach a section of the course (s) entitled Perinatal 5 - Practicum (RN 4566) .

Important note for Part-Time Facilitator applicants :

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS :

Perinatal 5 - Practicum (RN 4566) This clinical practicum is designed to provide you with an opportunity to incorporate theory and clinical practice, in the traditional obstetrical or perinatal settings including the role of the nurse in the caesarian section and recovery room settings.

Please note proof of Fetal Heart Surveillance (NRP) and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certificates are also required for clearance for practicum.

The responsibilities of Durham College Part-Time Facilitators include, but are not limited to :

  • 1. Creating a positive learning environment that accommodate students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and individual learning styles;
  • 2. Utilizing principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process;
  • 3. Effectively using educational technologies to support learning as well as managing and posting grades;
  • 4. Developing curriculum that uses appropriate strategies and tools to assess student learning;
  • 5. Ensuring that all course content is current and relevant;

6. Working independently and demonstrating initiative; and

7. Working effectively with students, the program team and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications :

  • 1. Minimum of five years of recent nursing experience that relates directly to the topic being taught;
  • 2. Holds a Master’s degree (or higher) in Nursing or Education;
  • 3. Holds current registration as an RN with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • 4. Current experience directly related to Perinatal Obstetrics;
  • 5. Superior skills in the areas of verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, critical thinking and problem solving;
  • organization and time management;

6. Experienced in the use of technology

7. Self-motivated and independent worker with a track record in meeting deadlines
