The Unit Inspector is accountable to for inspection activities related to Fixed Equipment at KOCH Fertilizer Canada (KFC).
The Inspector will be responsible for assessing the integrity and safety of equipment and executing the inspection needs at KFC.
What You Will Do
- Be accountable for and maintain compliance with our KOCH Pressure Equipment Integrity Quality Control Manual (QCM) and repair procedures.
- Assess the mechanical integrity and safety of fixed equipment, process piping as well as the execution of all inspection activities for your assigned area.
- Collaborate with other unit inspectors on your team and assist with inspection activities when required.
- Support the Inspection Team on long term inspection initiatives, such as the Piping RBI program, CUI Non-intrusive inspection program, TA / outage planning and execution, continuous improvement initiatives and developing and maintaining site inspection standards and procedures.
- Ensure equipment inspections are completed within assigned area with focus on maintaining Zero overdue inspections.
- Initiate and assist engineering team for capital project replacements based on inspection results and support project development.
- Participate in the documentation of assets requiring inspection deferrals.
- Develop Inspection and Test Plans and collaborate with maintenance engineering and the planning team in the development of work execution packages.
- Assist the inspection team with turnarounds, planned and unplanned outages.
- Participate in the mechanical integrity program for relief valves including overhaul audits and in-service inspections.
- Provide evaluation of inspection and NDE data.
- Provide NDE support as required.

- Tolerance to occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic / caustic chemicals with appropriate PPE
- Unassisted physical mobility in and around plant and equipment
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel as necessary
- Ability to travel to and enter site to access equipment
- 10% travel, including air
- Ability to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Technical Institute Diploma, or Red Seal Journeyperson Trade Certificate in a related discipline.
- At least five (5) years of related inspection experience as a certified Pressure vessel inspector (API 510). If not API inspector certified, eligible for certification within a one (1) year period.
- Knowledge of relevant ASME codes, standards, and NDT inspection techniques pertaining to fixed equipment and piping.
- MAXIMO and Inspection Data Management System (APM) experience
- MS Office, Word and Excel Experience
What Will Put You Ahead
- Working in a chemical or refinery environment
- Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) CGSB certification in a minimum of two methods (PT, MT or UT1)
- API Pressure Piping (570) and above ground storage Tank (653) Inspector Certification
