Job Description
Our Engineering department in the Calgary office seeks a motivated Structural Engineer to support projects across North America and globally, primarily in mineral and mining projects. The candidate will assist in structural design, drafting, and design team support.
- Conduct work in accordance with sound engineering and business practices.
- Create and review technical documents, including design calculations, drawings, details, and specifications from conception to final design, according to established standards and procedures.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet project requirements, are delivered on or ahead of schedule and on or under budget.
- Review client specifications, relevant codes, standards, and best practices during the design process.
- Identify and design improvements to optimize overall cost within project specifications.
- Prepare and communicate technical concepts and project updates clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Collaborate closely with engineering team, external suppliers, and contractors to identify and implement optimal technical solutions.
- Work with other disciplines to resolve technical issues and integrate design solutions.
- Ensure safety and quality are built into all supplied and developed products.
- Review constructability during detailed design and availability of field installation design for reliability.
- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, preassembly, erection, and maintenance of equipment.
- Perform shop and site visits to ensure compliance with specifications, engineering documents, and company quality expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.APEGA P.Eng. designation (other Canadian or U.S. Professional Engineering designations are an asset).5+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer in mining, aggregates, cement, industrial minerals, or material conveying solutions.Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of supporting structures for machines and equipment.Conversant with the National Building Code of Canada, provincial building codes, and CSA codes for steel and concrete structures (American or Eurocodes experience is an asset).Experience in a multidisciplinary environment.Digital literacy including structural analysis and design software (Dlubal RFEM / RSTAB, ROBOT) and MS Office.Exceptional technical and problem‑solving skills.Excellent written and oral communication and teamwork abilities.Self‑motivated with efficient time and organizational management.Willingness to travel up to 10% for suppliers and client meetings.Benefits
