As the Surface Improvements Inspector, you are responsible for overseeing work done by contractors and consultants during the construction phase. Primary duties include :
- Understand estimates, ensure grade sheets are completed and design drawings are approved.
- Respond to and resolve issues, complaints, and inquiries from contractors, consultants and the public (including 3-1-1 inquiries).
- Liaise between contractors, property owners, and other City departments.
- Inspect construction projects; monitor schedules and costs; and ensure proper attention is given to quality control, environmental and safety issues.
- Prepare and distribute letters concerning overdue and outstanding Indemnification Agreements.
- Perform Construction Completion Certificate (CCC) and Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) inspections for agreements and contracts.
Qualifications
- A completed diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Applicants must be eligible for membership with The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professional of Alberta (ASET).
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) and the use of a person vehicle for business purposes.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), and experience working with ArcView application is essential.
- Experience with Hansen and Public One Stop Service Experience (POSSE) software will be considered assets.
- You are able to work with little supervision and make sound rational decisions in the field.
- Well-developed planning and organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task is essential for success in this role.
