Job description

Feel proud of what you do and help shape the future of BC at a BC Top Employer. We’re driven by purpose – delivering peace of mind to one in three BC households with insurance, roadside assistance, auto repair, Evo Car Share and Evolve E-Bike Share. With a long history of keeping roads safe and giving back in ways that build stronger communities, we offer a wide variety of meaningful, rewarding careers that move BC forward.

In this position, you’ll often be the first person our Members see when they need help. As part of an amazing network of 100 Road Assist team members, you'll share your genuine passion for helping others by providing friendly and professional roadside mechanical assistance or towing services to members of BCAA and affiliated clubs.

Every day brings something new in this fast-paced, hands-on role. As a Temporary Full-Time Associate Fleet Technician, you’ll use your mechanical expertise and problem-solving skills to help Members get back on the road safely and efficiently. Whether changing a tire, diagnosing an issue, or arranging a tow, you’ll be the reassuring presence our Members count on when they need it most.

Enjoy a rolling 37.5-hour work week, with shifts ranging from 8 to 11.25 hours, scheduled one month in advance. Once you join our 'Shift Pick Pool,' you’ll benefit from a one-year shift lock — offering stability, predictability, and a better work-life balance.

This is a 12-month temporary full-time contract with the potential for extension or permanent conversion based on performance and operational needs.

Who you are:

  • You’re the kind of person who pulls over when you see someone needs help. Making a difference in someone’s day makes your day too!

  • You’re a people person who also loves cars and vehicles. In this role, you’ll combine your passion for helping others with your knowledge and expertise in mechanical assistance.

  • You’re a problem solver who loves a challenge. You’re organized yet flexible to address whatever change comes your way.

  • You’re a teammate who loves helping others and giving to your community.

  • Doing things right is important to you. You care about everyone’s safety.

  • You’re willing to learn. You’ll receive on-the-job training, tailored to your experience.

  • You'll have the opportunity to participate in an apprenticeship program where you can attain the same knowledge and skills as Red Seal.

What you’ll do:

  • Deliver exceptional service by responding promptly to Members’ requests for assistance.

  • Provide roadside support including battery boosts, tire changes, lockout services, and fuel delivery when needed.

  • Maintain BCAA’s high standards of service and brand image through friendly, courteous interactions.

  • Promote BCAA and affiliate products and services to Members.

  • Ensure proper care, control, and documentation of BCAA equipment.

  • Follow all corporate standards and operational procedures.

  • Support and foster a ‘Safety First’ culture, adhering to safety policies and procedures at all times.

  • Serve as a role model and advocate for safety to all BCAA fleet members.

What you’ve done:

  • Completed your high school diploma and a certificate in a relevant field.

  • Up to 2 years of mechanical experience, preferably within automotive or towing and recovery or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • You’re a confident driver with a clean BC Driver License Class 5.

  • A proven track record in dealing with customer issues.

  • Capable of safely lifting at least 70lbs during Member service, while prioritizing safety throughout the process.

  • You’re confident using technology (laptops, tablets and smartphones) and have strong English communication skills. A second language is an asset.

  • Fabrication or millwright experience is a bonus!

The hourly range for this position is $29.03 to $36.29 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 5%, with the opportunity to earn up to 9%.

What we offer:

  • The chance to make a difference every day in the lives of British Columbians, BCAA Members and our communities.

  • Career and personal development to help you grow and reach your goals.

  • Incentives that recognize team and individual sales and performance.

  • Flexible benefits to support your health and lifestyle, and wellness dollars to keep your body, mind and soul thriving.

  • A competitive rewards package including salary, performance bonus programs, pension plan, and more to help build your personal wealth.

  • Paid time off including vacation, and days for wellness, volunteering, and cultural, spiritual or religious connection.

  • BCAA membership, with valuable perks and Member savings on every day and special spending, from gas and coffee to clothes, sports and event tickets, and hotels.

  • Meaningful, rewarding work for a BC Top Employer known for putting people first and constantly building a better workplace for all our team members.
