Driver Apprentice - AM

Driver Apprentice - The intent of the apprenticeship program is to upgrade your license to an “AZ” after a maximum of 12 months after hire. This decision is based on performance, customer interactions, and history of safety and discipline.

Shifts :

Workday is typically 10-13 hours, 4 day work week.

Shifts range from Monday to Saturday

Day Shift - approximate start time between 3 : 00am and 5 : 00am.

Gordon Food Service delivers 7 days a week. It will be necessary to be available to work ALL Statutory holidays. That does not mean that you will be scheduled for all of them.

Shifts vary and depend on availability at time of hire.

Compensation :

$22.44 hour base rate

Full benefits and RRSP options after 90 Day probation

Overtime available based on business needs. Overtime is pay at time and a half after 40 hours per week.

Once AZ license is obtained, you could receive a raise in pay starting at $31.11 / hour

Expected attire :

You will be required to wear over the ankle Green Triangle CSA safety boots.

Physically are required to be able to lift 60-90 lbs. Use of hand cart / dolly to move product up and down truck ramps.

A day in the life of a Driver Apprentice :

Show up at your scheduled start time at your specified depot location

Complete pre-work stretches.

Anticipate up to 18 daily stops, 7,000 kgs. delivered and $30,000 worth of product.

10 hour day / more when first starting out.

Wide-variety of stops :

Return to the Depot, confirm next day’s schedule and duties and clarify any questions.
