THE JOB : Engagement Partner, Lower Mainland

The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.

Starting Salary Range : $80,067 - $100,083

Reporting to the Engagement Manager, Lower Mainland, the Engagement Partner enables and optimizes ongoing relationship development and capacity building within a designated geographic area in the Lower Mainland for MSAs and health authority partners.

The Engagement Partner is a trusted advisor and liaison to MSA physician leaders and their staff, working with MSAs to build capacity and ensure that they can represent and lead effectively on behalf of their members.

The Engagement Partner strategically advances meaningful consultation and partnerships within MSAs and between MSAs and health authority partners, as well as collaboration between MSAs and Divisions of Family Practice on shared priorities.

  • The key duties and responsibilities of this role include providing strategic supports to MSAs in developing governance and organizational capacity to effectively engage physicians;
  • knowledge sharing and translation amongst stakeholders on common priorities, activities and trends; developing and optimizing local and regional engagement processes and structures;

managing local and regional issues; advancing local and regional activities with physicians and health authorities; and, contributing to provincial and regional committees related to physician engagement.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Relationship Building (E) :

  • Maintains and forms alliances with physician and health authority leaders and decision makers.
  • Partners with multi-disciplinary stakeholders to generate mutually beneficial long-term opportunities
  • Represents Doctors of BC on strategic issues impacting multiple organizations, the community, and the professional field.
  • Optimizes and enhances relationships between physicians and their partner organizations / groups.
  • Maintains effective communication by sharing ideas, best practices, trends and exploring opportunities with client groups.

Change Advocate (A) :

  • Ability to lead the planning and implementation of change programs that have a wide-ranging impact on client groups in a multiple stakeholder environment
  • Partners with leaders to identify opportunities for significant process enhancements and recommends changes that impact the strategic direction.
  • Seek out opportunities for alignment with other efforts.
  • Ability to set expectations for monitoring and feedback systems and reviews performance trends.
  • Ability to evaluate progress and involve peer and team members in analyzing strengths and weaknesses in performance.
  • Looks to improves efficiency by spearheading pilots and planned functional change initiatives.

WHAT YOU BRING

An undergraduate university degree in a recognized and related field, and up to six years of progressive and relevant experience;

an equivalent level of related work experience in-lieu of post-secondary education will be considered.

  • A solid understanding of the BC health care system, health authorities and hospitals.
  • Experience working with physicians, other health care providers, and / or health authorities and experience working in the specified region is preferred.
  • Experience working in community development, collective impact, governance, systems change environments.
  • Skilled in working and leading in complex, evolving environments with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Proven ability to collaborate significantly with peers organization-wide and access guidance only when critically required.
  • Previous success working highly autonomously, with nominal direction while practicing discretion and judgment.
  • Ability to conduct complex and specialized work activities associated with your stakeholder group and provide expert advice and solutions to achieve broader organizational results.
  • Skilled at providing strategic guidance to develop a common agenda, and serving as a thought leader / standard bearer for initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills at the operational and strategic level, as well as the ability to apply logical, and critical thinking to define problems, collect information, establish facts and determine optimal courses of action.
  • Advanced skills in diplomacy, conflict resolution, presentations, communications, facilitation and relationship building.
  • Must be able to anticipate and proactively resolve highly complex and undefined issues.
  • Strong ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PC based software, particularly Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Valid drivers’ license and car, along with willingness to travel within BC and to be flexible accommodating early morning and evening meetings, overnight stays and home-based working.
