We are currently seeking Inclusive Education Teachers for the 2024-2025 school year in the Lower Mainland region. These part-time positions offer opportunity for growth as the year progresses! Support Gr.

8-12 students in the Lower Mainland area while working mainly from home. SUMMARY OF POSITION : The Inclusive Education Teacher will provide quality educational services to special education students and their parents in a home learning setting, through a commitment to working alongside the parents and education team in planning and implementing student IEP programs.

These part-time positions will be 0.2-0.6 with potential for future growth for the right candidate. Note that there is an optional add-on supporting some K-7 elementary students along with this role.

Remuneration : $68,000-78,000 annual salary at the respective FTE, dependent on category of education and years of prior experience.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND / OR TRAINING : An experienced special education teacher, certified by the B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch or the Office of the Inspector of Independent Schools.

A teacher who enjoys the opportunity to support families who have chosen to educate their children with special needs in a home learning environment.

Should possess experience in special education or related field. Training or experience in and ability to modify / adapt general education curriculum, create IEPs and compile special needs funding justification documents.

EXPERIENCE : Experience and education related to working with individuals who have special learning needs. This could include, but is not limited to ASD, FASD, Cerebral Palsy, Chronic Health Impairments, Hearing Loss, Visual Impairments, Learning Disabilities, Behaviour or Mental Health concerns, etc.

Experience and / or a desire to work with coded special education students (K-12) and their families in a home learning setting;

ability to modify / adapt curriculum; ability to collaborate with family and team members to write SMART IEP’s and student learning plans.

CREDENTIALS AND / OR SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Certified by the B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch or the Office of the Inspector of Independent Schools.

Ability to recognize learning challenges, prescribe remediation and evaluate student progress. Understanding of the dynamics and challenges faced by families with children who have special needs.

Ability to function as a member of an educational team and collaborate with parents, SEA’s, general education staff, therapy providers, support personnel and community agencies.

Strong behaviour management and positive discipline skills. Ability to be flexible and receptive to change. Some experience or training in interpreting the standardized scores and relevant details found in Ed Psych and other assessment reports.
