Position Summary

Selkirk Montessori School is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Inclusive Education Intervention Teacher to support students in our Elementary and Middle School programs. This role is central to our commitment to inclusive strengths-based education within a Montessori learning environment. The successful candidate will deliver targeted academic interventions while working closely with teaching teams families and school-based

support services to ensure each learner can access the curriculum and thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Student Support & Intervention

• Design and deliver evidence-based literacy interventions grounded in the Science of Reading
• Support students with diagnosed and undiagnosed learning differences in alignment with Montessori principles through small-group and 1:1 intervention
• Adapt instructional strategies to meet individual student profiles and learning goals
• Introduce and support the use of bypass strategies and assistive technology tools

• Conduct formal and informal assessments to identify learning needs and inform intervention planning
• Implement ongoing progress monitoring and adjust interventions based on data and student response

• Develop implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• Collaborate with the School-Based Team to support students requiring additional learning services
• Participate in case conferences problem-solving meetings and transition planning
• Communicate documented student progress through written reports meetings and ongoing dialogue

• Work collaboratively with classroom teaching teams to align interventions with classroom instruction
• Build strong respectful relationships with parents and caregivers
• Contribute to a school culture that values community inclusion and partnership

Required:

• Masters Degree or Certification in Inclusive Education Special Education or a closely related field ; equivalent experience may be considered
• BC Teachers Certification

• Training and experience in literacy intervention and/or the Science of Reading
• Strong background in assessment data-driven instruction and progress monitoring
• Experience developing and managing IEPs
• Excellent collaboration communication and relationship-building skills

• Enjoys working directly with students (preschool grade 8) and collaborating with colleagues
• Commitment to inclusive student-centered education

• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Respect for diverse learners families and perspectives
