Job Description :
Ensures that all good manufacturing processes, sanitation requirements, and allergen and identity preservation controls are adhered to.
Monitors all reports from Production to ensure that all guidelines / programs are followed.
- Ensures that all food safety specifications and requirements of the finished product have been met prior to shipping.
- Ensures that finished product is adequately protected against intentional and / or unintentional contamination.
- Ensures that proper stock rotation is conducted.
- Participates in new product development and ensures that Production is capable of producing any new products.
- Reviews and revises Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the department, as required. Ensures all SOPs are consistently followed and enforced.
- Manages production needs and equipment capabilities to achieve the production requirements.
- Ensures that Production employees have received adequate good manufacturing practices and technical training and that all Managers and Supervisors are following all procedures and guidelines.
- Performs daily and monthly monitoring tasks, as specified by the CFIA.
- Communicate effectively to coordinate work and ensure daily schedules are communicated and adhered to.
- Provides overall management of a team or business area and includes management of individuals indirectly through subordinate supervisors or managers.
- Establish goals and priorities and manage the activities and work of subordinates Evaluate their performance by providing formal and informal feedback to ensure that all work within a specific area is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance
- Responsible for all aspects of Human Resources functions for team including hiring, onboarding, performance management and disciplinary matters.
- Develop team capabilities through continue on-the-job and formal training opportunities and coaching.
- Prepare, recommend and manage a budget for the direct area of responsibility by conducting analysis and preparing data to support requested budget.
- Monitor the financial performance of area of responsibility against approved budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized on.
Qualifications :
- Minimum five years of Production Management experience in the food industry required, preferably in a ready-to-eat and unionized environment;
- Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;
- Working knowledge of knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations;
- Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;
- Ability to work / excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
- Knowledge of process improvement tools.
- General Computer Skills ( MS Office, excel)
- Post Secondary Diploma in a related field required.
