The Role
We are currently looking for you to take on the role of Controls Engineer based out of our Oshawa Assembly plant. What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
Develop a proactive safety culture by engaging team members and peers in our safety processesUnderstand and effective use of Global Manufacturing SystemProvide daily support of production operations with focus on personnel and equipment safety, process quality and uptime with a focus on automation and controlsProvide technical / engineering support to assist production and maintenance with troubleshooting equipment / process failures and with identifying effective follow-up counter-measuresIdentify and execute projects to support achievement of departmental business objectives and continuous improvement of safety, quality, cost and reliabilityReview equipment operation and reliability (develop tracking methods where applicable)Identify and execute special projects for process and quality improvements, equipment refurbishment, line rate increases and future programsEnsure new and existing equipment meets operational requirements and appropriate standardsEnsure proper documentation (drawings, manuals, PM schedules etc.) is available and properly maintained for all equipment in assigned area, ensure spare parts availability and develop maintenance standard operating procedures (SOPs)Maintain current knowledge in fields of expertiseUpdate management on current status and emerging trends of areas of expertise as relating to equipment standards, legislative requirements, GM Requirements, etc.Identify technical training and knowledge transfer opportunities with other Controls Engineers, Interns, and Maintenance AssociatesDesign and manage key strategic interfaces within systems to enable component reuse and consistency to standard methodologiesProvide support to other specialists for root cause analysisDesign Tests to efficiently find opportunities for design improvementsIdentify and document system vulnerabilities and craft mitigation action plans; track corrective actionsYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent in a related technical field, preferably with a minimum of 3 years of experience in automation controlsExperience in troubleshooting robotics / controls systems, preferably Fanuc Robotics, Paint Robots, Welding Robots, Control Logix PLCs and plant application controls and automationStrong technical aptitude working with industrial electrical systems regulations, design and maintenance, particularly automation and control systemsIntermediate or advanced Control Logix PLC programmingFamiliarity with Variable Frequency Drives and HMIsGeneral knowledge of Automotive Assembly application and operationsStrong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to resolve complex issuesProficient in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD, Maximo, Rockwell and other technical softwareAbility to work on rotational shifts, including midnights – as requiredWhat Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

The salary range for this role is $81,300.00 to $122,000.00. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
