Overview

The primary role of this individual is to oversee all activities directly relating to the packaging staff and equipment on their line to ensure a safe, efficient, and organized packaging operation.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coach team to ensure all staff are adhering to the policies and procedures set forth by the company.
  • Reach scrap & efficiency goals as relating to the assigned line.
  • Ensure all Work-In-Process is used up efficiently as per First In, First Out rules.
  • Prepare and complete all required paperwork including production packaging records, weight checks and metal detection records.
  • Ensure all checks are completed on time.
  • Ensure proper packaging is used.
  • Update date code and ensure it is accurate.
  • Coordinate changeovers and cleans.
  • Help keep line clean and, at the end of shift, ensure bins and cardboard are emptied for the next shift.
  • Manage packers on the line to assign work during spare time, monitor break times and attendance.
  • Ensure timely rotations of packers as per the company standard.
  • Use Just Foods software to report pallets and print LPs.
  • Ensure all packers are trained and following safety procedures and company policies.
  • Communicate line issues to appropriate individuals including Service Operator, QA, Line Supervisor, oven operator and Mechanic.
  • Assist with and complete cleaning procedures such as allergens.
  • Adjust and direct crew for equipment downtime and breakdowns.
  • Organize and maintain the line.
  • Assist with moving pallets on production lines.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Perform other assigned duties and follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines and comply with all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience working in a product packaging environment preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with good organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision; safety-first approach.
  • Detail oriented; basic math skills.
  • Flexible work schedule including overtime and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working conditions

  • Work indoors.
  • May be exposed to hot temperatures from ovens.
  • May work close to others, usually within a few feet.
  • Compliance with ventilation, cleanliness, space, lighting, and temperature.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Standing for extended periods.
  • May repeat the same movement.
  • Often wear safety equipment such as gloves, hair nets, steel-toed safety shoes / boots and beard nets.
  • Ability to bend or twist the body.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
