Overview
The City of Beaumont is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Grant Specialist to join the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). This position plays a critical corporate role by securing external funding that supports the City’s strategic priorities, capital projects, and service delivery objectives.
Responsibilities
Grant Development & Writing
- Lead the preparation of high-quality grant applications, including narratives, budgets, supporting documentation, and required approvals
- Ensure applications are accurate, persuasive, fully compliant, and submitted by established deadlines
- Advise departments on grant application approaches, positioning, and competitiveness
- Coordinate and collaborate with external vendors including technical consultants as required
Grant Identification & Strategy
Research, track, and evaluate federal, provincial, and other funding opportunities aligned with Council-approved priorities and plansMaintain a comprehensive inventory of grant opportunities, application statuses, and completion of grant requirementsWork proactively with departments to identify suitable projects and develop application strategies and workback plansDevelop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance and strong internal controlsStakeholder Coordination & Relationship Management
Collaborate with internal departments, Finance, and external partners to gather project information and required dataBuild and maintain relationships with funding agencies and grant advisors to support successful applicationsSupport internal departments and external consultants to ensure deliverables are achieved and grant requirements are fully metGrant Management & Compliance Support
Lead post-award grant coordination, including tracking conditions, reporting requirements, and timelinesSupport departments with compliance, reporting, and audit requirements to ensure funding is retainedReview and coordinate grant agreements with funding agenciesMonitor grant performance and follow-up obligations through to project completionWhat YOU Bring
Post-secondary degree in Political Science, Business, Public Administration, Communications / Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field (or a diploma / certificate with equivalent related experience)Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience preparing grant applications, briefing reports, and supporting documentationDemonstrated technical writing expertise with strong attention to detailFamiliarity with legal aspect of grants and grant agreementsExcellent research, analytical, and problem‑solving skillsExceptional time management skillsStrong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to influence without direct authorityStrong report writing and presentation skillsInitiative-driven and results focused, with proven strategic thinkingAsset
Experience in a public sector or municipal environment specifically around municipal capital infrastructure is considered a strong assetWhat WE Offer
