Business Development Manager

Join an innovative Business Development & Marketing team in the heart of London and take ownership of high-impact strategic projects. This is a contract role (8–12 months) with maternity cover potential.

Salary : £70,000 - £80,000 per annum (pro-rata for contract) Location : Greater London, Central London (Hybrid : 3 days Office / 2 days WFH) Job Type : Freelance / Contract

ABOUT THE ROLE

What you'll be doing

Deliver ownership of well-scoped BD projects and sector-led initiatives to drive firm growth

Support priority sectors like FinTech and Civil Fraud by executing business plans and measuring ROI

Develop a more formal and effective referrer network in collaboration with the Head of BD

Create targeting pipelines and client profiles to strengthen prospective client engagement

Advise partners and senior lawyers as a trusted commercial consultant to drive momentum on key priorities

Collaborate across departments to identify overlapping opportunities and influence relationship-building

Coordinate with marketing colleagues to ensure all activity is aligned with firm-wide objectives

ABOUT YOU

What we're looking for

Proven experience in a Business Development Manager or equivalent role within a professional services environment (legal strongly preferred)

Demonstrable ability to manage and deliver complex BD initiatives independently and at pace

Strong gravitas and credibility with senior stakeholders, including partners

Excellent project management skills, with the ability to scope, prioritise, and deliver work with minimal supervision

Commercially minded, with a strong understanding of partnership dynamics and law firm decision-making

Outstanding communication skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence effectively

Pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with a strong bias towards delivery
