The opportunity

Our global system of quality management (SQM) established amongst Service Lines (SLs), functions and geographies will need to be maintained and evolved to reflect the evolution / changes of our organization and our business strategies.

SQM Operations team has been created to support the business in its operational responsibility on the System of Quality Management of the Canadian EY organization.

It will also ensure a connected and collaborative approach that goes beyond the Assurance service line, capitalizing on the opportunity of ISQM 1 to take quality to the next level and deliver on our commitment to build confidence in the capital markets.

SQM Operations team report directly to the Canadian Assurance Managing Partner.

The SQM Operations Senior Manager will report to the SQM Operational Leader and other SQM Operations team members (depending on the SQM topic) on the ongoing operations of the SQM and will be a key member of the SQM Operations Team

Your key responsibilities

Support of Canadian SQM Operational leader Responsibilities, including the Risk Assessment Process of our System of Quality Management and Annual Evaluation Collaborate in the meetings organized with the different stakeholders of our System of Quality Management : Functions, Service Lines (Assurance, Consulting, Tax and SaT).

Provides training and onboarding to SQM Operations support resources (GDS AQS, PMO, tool support) and new Function / Service Line team members.

Development and maintenance of enablement and training to support our System of Quality Management and the different stakeholders.

Performs SQM Documentation tool and SQM Monitoring Tool data management activities to execute Risk Assessment Process, Control Owner and Operator certifications, and attestations process.

Manages quality of data and data updates in the SQM Documentation Tool. Performs data analysis using the SQM Documentation Tool to identify SQM baseline improvement areas.

Detailed quality review of Global baseline documentation for completeness, accuracy and compliance with SQM documentation standards.

Support in the operation of certain SQM member firm controls Support in the evaluation of control findings and deficiencies, where required, and be involved in the design of remedial action plans (quality improvement plans) Utilize information across the member firm in performing the Annual Evaluation process and preparing the Annual Evaluation Conclusion

Policy / enablement maintenance Supports with the creation and update to training materials and enablers for SQM processes and tools.

Supports with the maintenance and update to SQM process flows Supports in the answers to the different regulators requests related to ISQM1 / our System of Quality Management.

Supports SQM Documentation Tool development through participating in UAT. Supports SQM Operations team in the execution of the Product owner role on the SQM Documentation Tool as a product owner proxy

This role involves significant interaction with SQM stakeholders across different Functions and Service Lines. Problem solving will be a key element of this individual’s role.

They must work collaboratively with local leaders to develop solutions to remediate issues

Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role you must have

  • University / college degree in accounting / business administration
  • 7-8+ years with an Accounting firm, audit background a must
  • CPA or CA (or equivalent license)
  • Audit or audit support as specialist background.
  • Experienced in establishing and improving risk control frameworks in clients and / or knowledgeable of the firm’s existing quality control system.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior management.
  • Commitment to quality.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a challenging global environment, cross functional and service lines.

The salary range for this job in British Columbia is $90,000 to $180,000. Individual salaries within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and work location city.
