Venor is proud to partner with Breathe BioMedical (BBM) on their search for a Director of Product Development. Based in Moncton, New Brunswick, BBM’s mission is to revolutionize early-disease detection with breath-based platform technology.

Their expertise lies in breath analytics, which involves the collection, processing and analysis of breath samples to identify biomarker patterns associated with diseases, specifically breast cancer.

As the Director of Product Development, you will lead and manage engineers and scientists as they develop Breathe BioMedical’s breath analytics products and perform research that supports current and future development.

As a senior leader in the business, you will apply your management and medical device development experience to the company’s R&D efforts to ensure design work is performed efficiently, following industry best practices and adhering to regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Oversee and mentor a team of engineers and scientists, cultivating a culture of technical excellence and accountability to achieve established goals.
  • Lead in the development of new and innovative medical device technologies, processes, solutions, and products, from concept through to verification and validation, maintaining compliance to regulatory standards.
  • Ensure design work is performed efficiently, adheres to industry best practices and standards, and is evaluated against predetermined acceptance criteria.
  • Establish design inputs, conduct risk assessments, and create design verification and validation protocols.
  • Drive team performance by providing clear direction, feedback, and alignment with organizational objectives, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and impactful contributions.
  • Translate strategic goals and objectives to inform teams’ technical plans and tasks.
  • Establish and liaison with external partnerships (including vendors and SME’s) to ensure on-time and high-quality execution of development activities.

Leveraging your extensive experience and deep understanding of ISO 13485 and industry / regulatory standards, you’ll ensure products meet the highest levels of quality and safety.

From orchestrating people and processes to navigating competing priorities, you’ll excel in a fast-paced environment where innovation thrives.

You have a Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering and / or equivalent experience, along with 10+ years of experience leading a product design team (preferably in the medical device industry).

Additionally, strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment is essential.
