Job Description
Supporting our growing Water division, you will perform moderate portions of broad assignments, including :
- Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established procedures.
- Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and simple tests.
- Provide guidance to entry‑level engineers.
- Perform work in accordance with budget and schedule with little supervision.
- Independently complete primary design elements for engineering works.
- Develop contract specifications, studies and reports for electrical power and distribution systems, grounding, lighting, cable tray system, cable feeder sizing, soft‑start and variable‑speed drives, standby power, and low‑voltage systems (fire alarm, telecommunications and security systems).
- Capable to develop single‑line diagrams, three‑line diagrams, equipment layout and elevation drawings, P&IDs, grounding layouts, motor schematics and wiring diagrams, instrument loop diagrams, AC / DC schematics, cable schedules, cable tray layouts, area classification drawings, fire alarm riser layout, control panel layouts, specifications, cost estimates, lighting layouts and other building systems without supervision.
- Design and specify process instrumentation and control devices for water / wastewater treatment and industrial applications.
- Provide electrical discipline leadership on small‑to‑mid‑scale water and wastewater projects under minimal supervision, ensuring compliance with regulations, standards and best practices.
- Work closely with other disciplines to coordinate and liaise project deliverables with minimal supervision.
- Adhere to AECOM’s design and specification standards and learn client requirements.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical documentation in accordance with AECOM QA / QC procedures and client expectations.
Minimum Requirements
University degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.Minimum 4 years of industry and engineering design experience in a multi‑disciplinary electrical, power and / or instrumentation & control environment.Registered Professional in Canada (EGBC preferred) or eligibility to obtain EGBC registration quickly.Applicable experience in electrical distribution systems, DCS or PLC control systems, variable‑speed drives, and instrumentation & control systems for municipal or light industrial environments.Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Code, NFPA, CEC, IEEE, NEMA, NESC, ANSI, ISA, IESNA and building (fire alarm and communication) systems.Proven track record in design and production of tender documents such as P&IDs, single‑line diagrams, control and communication system diagrams, electrical and instrument location drawings, loop & schematic wiring diagrams, equipment load schedules, cable & tray calculations, instrumentation list and specifications sheets, and contract specifications.Experience working with Metro Vancouver engineering standards is an asset.Proficiency in AutoCAD and / or Revit MEP is desirable.Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent English communication and interpersonal skills, self‑motivated and results‑oriented.Additional Information
Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience and work location. The range for this position is CAD 85,000 – CAD 120,000 yearly.
