Facility
The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 273-bed facility serving approximately 250,000 people in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. As one of Interior Health’s tertiary referral hospitals, RIH provides 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, ambulatory and outpatient clinics, and comprehensive diagnostic services including : a 1.5T MRI, two CT scans, Echocardiography, a Clinical Neurophysiology Lab and Sleep Lab. RIH supports Stroke Thrombolysis and provincial Tertiary Neuropsychiatry Programs. It is the regional base for the six-person, 24-hour High Acuity Response Team (HART). Surgical services include General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and 24 / 7 Anesthesia coverage.
RIH emphasizes a collaborative culture between Medical Staff and Hospital Administration to maximize job satisfaction and quality of care.
Practice Details
- Role : General Adult Psychiatrist, .6 FTE at RIH in combination with a .4 FTE position at Hillside Acute Psychiatric Centre.
- Responsibilities include inpatient care on RIH’s 26-bed unit,Consults to medical / surgical units and the emergency department, and participation in a community-based practice through the Community Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) clinic.
- Community-based programs include Early Psychosis Intervention, Treatment Support and Rehabilitation, Counselling, Seniors Mental Health, Intake / Access, Rural Telehealth, Intensive Case Management, ACT, and Substance Use.
- Community practice involves patient assessment and treatment, collaboration with clinicians and managers, and assisting with program development, policies, and procedures. Teaching opportunities are available through RIH’s affiliation with UBC Faculty of Medicine Southern Medical Program.
Hillside Psychiatric Center
.4 FTE in combination with the .6 RIH position.The 44-bed Hillside Center is a regional acute tertiary psychiatric center serving adults and elderly patients with a provincial neuropsychiatry program.Focus on diagnosis and stabilization with rehabilitation for reintegration into communities; multidisciplinary teams include Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychiatrists, and Neurologists.Located on the RIH campus within walking distance.Academic and Leadership Opportunities
