Role Overview

The SEM Senior Project Manager oversees all aspects of Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) tunneling operations. This position requires advanced technical expertise, leadership, and strategic management skills to ensure the successful delivery of high-impact construction projects.

The role involves leading teams, maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards, and achieving project milestones efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

• Direct all SEM tunneling activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
• Serve as the central point of contact for SEM operations, providing technical guidance and decision-making support.
• Organize and lead daily briefings to communicate project goals, identify challenges, and allocate tasks effectively.

Safety and Compliance

• Promote and enforce a culture of safety, conducting regular health, safety, and environmental inspections.
• Review and approve method statements and risk assessments, ensuring that safety protocols are clearly communicated and followed.
• Monitor on-site activities to ensure compliance with local safety regulations and industry standards.

Resource Coordination

• Plan and manage the allocation of resources, including workforce, equipment, and materials, to meet project demands.
• Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of necessary resources.
• Optimize resource usage to minimize costs and avoid delays.

Quality Assurance

• Ensure all SEM activities meet or exceed quality standards through rigorous inspections and documentation.
• Approve quality assurance packages and provide guidance on addressing non-conformance issues.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all SEM activities for project documentation.

Team Management and Development

• Supervise and mentor SEM Shift Engineers and other team members, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
• Promote clear and effective communication across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience :

Extensive experience in managing SEM or tunneling projects, with a strong record of delivering large-scale construction initiatives successfully.

Technical Expertise :

Advanced knowledge of SEM techniques, tunneling methodologies, and underground construction.

Leadership Skills :

Proven ability to lead teams, resolve challenges, and make informed decisions under pressure.

Safety and Quality Commitment :

Strong focus on maintaining high standards of safety and quality throughout all phases of the project.

Communication Skills :

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear interaction with diverse stakeholders.

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred. Professional certification in project management or engineering is an advantage.
