Insurance Defence Associate Attorney (3–8 Years Experience)

Location : Toronto, ON

Work Arrangement : Hybrid (Toronto office as home base with flexibility)

The Opportunity

This opportunity is ideal for an insurance defence associate attorney seeking a stable, well-managed litigation platform with consistent workflow and meaningful responsibility. The firm offers hands-on advocacy, direct insurer interaction, and a supportive environment that encourages professional growth without unnecessary micromanagement.

Key Responsibilities

Defend a broad range of insurance defence matters from intake through resolution

Handle general liability, premises liability, automobile liability, and related defense files

Draft pleadings, motions, discovery materials, and dispositive briefs

Take and defend examinations for discovery and participate in mediations, motions, and hearings

Assist with trial preparation and litigation strategy

Communicate directly with insurers, adjusters, and insured clients

Manage an active litigation docket with increasing independence

Requirements

3–8 years of insurance defence litigation experience

Strong experience before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice

Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills

Ability to independently manage files while collaborating with senior counsel

Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario

Compensation & Benefits

$145,000–$185,000 CAD base salary (DOE)

Open to higher compensation for the right experience
