Senior Protection & Control, Lead Engineer

This role will be based in Burnaby, BC.

Your role within the team:

As a member of Transmission, Distribution and Renewables team, you will:

• Prepare Protection & Control designs from conceptual to implementation stage for Transmission, Distribution and Generating stations.

• Perform design work in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code.

• Prepare single line diagrams, DC/AC control schematics.

• Design and development of panel layouts and bill of materials and detailed wiring diagrams.

• Develop cable block diagrams and cable and conduit schedules.

• Program Protection & Control devices.

• Work on reports and calculations and perform site visits.

• Work collaboratively with other team members to deliver projects.

• Mentor, coach, and supervise a team of junior engineers.

• Assist in development of technical processes and procedures to improve efficiency.

• Assist in preparation of proposals.

The ideal candidate:

• Holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.

• Has 7-10 years of previous protection & control design work experience in T&D and or Generation sector.

• Has taken courses in Protection & Control at a University level or equivalent.

• Experience in a consulting environment is an asset.

• Experience with AutoCAD and PLC programming is an asset.

• Must be willing to learn new technologies and programming of devices.

• Knowledge and application of the Canadian electrical code.

• Is registered as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.

• Demonstrated excellent written and oral English communication skills and good work ethic.
