Reporting to the Director of Project Controls, the Project Controls Analyst will provide project controls support to ongoing projects and aid the company’s estimating and construction teams to ensure the project controls system is properly implemented and utilized. The role involves developing and maintaining data, dashboards, KPIs and predictive analytics for our Utilities projects.
What You'll Do Here
Participate in developing, establishing, and maintaining the company’s project cost control systems.Assist the project team in setting up the project WBS, project cost codes, and the project baseline budget.Monitor the project performance and ensure the project controls system is properly implemented.Train the project team on how to implement and maintain the prescribed change management procedures.Provide Aecon management team with all required project controls summary reports and analyses.Review the project contract and ensure that all contract conditions (invoicing, reporting and related issues) are applied and fulfilled when setting up the project within Aecon’s project controls system.Participate in setting up and controlling the project structure (WBS) and related cost structure (CBS).Participate in the coordination between estimating and site to ensure the project controls system is properly implemented.Monitor the change management system on site by making sure that staff understands and tracks changes in Aecon’s systems.Ensure project staff and crew understand the cost code structure and charge their expended hours to the correct codes.Review and analyze project controls reports (progress and productivity) with the Project Controls Lead and suggest corrective actions to maintain expected performance and productivity.Review and analyze project scheduling and cost reports and suggest corrective actions to keep the project within planned cost and schedule.Prepare and update project cash flows throughout the project life cycle.Supervise and mentor developing Project Controls Analysts.Assist the project manager in preparing project monthly reports and forecasting.Assist the project scheduler and team in preparing, reviewing, and maintaining the project schedule.Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression.What You Will Bring To The Team
Good knowledge of Earned Value principles.Experience with data analytics tools, including advanced MS Excel, Power Query, SAP, and Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate).Experience automating data flow and setting up data pipelines (asset).Knowledge / expertise in SQL & Python (asset).Experience developing dashboards, KPIs and analytics to support operational excellence.Design, develop and establish key reporting standards.Ability to read schedules and scheduling curves / reports.2–3 years of related experience.Good knowledge of cost engineering / cost control.Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure work environment.Excellent interpersonal and team skills.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.Willingness for continuous learning and technical advancement.Detail‑oriented and customer focused.Effective analytical and problem‑solving skills.Hydro and Utilities experience considered an asset.Post‑secondary education – Bachelor of Science (Engineering discipline) or C.E.T.; Bachelor of Commerce.Adaptability to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.Valid driver’s license and open to travel.Champion of inclusion and diversity.Expected salary range : $70,000 – $90,000 CAD.
