Job Description :
Reporting to the Manager, Student Learning Centre & Libraries, this position supports information service duties, resource sharing activities in addition to a wide variety of other library tasks.
Duties include but are not limited to staffing the research and circulation desks, operating the virtual chat service, collecting statistical data pertaining to resource sharing and assisting students with questions about college software and troubleshootingequipmentproblems or requesting work orders if needed.
The incumbent assists with the Library’s Resource Sharing Service and including interlibrary loan and intercampus loans. Additionally, the incumbent supports initiatives aimed at enhancing the accessibility of library services.
The incumbent will demonstrate strong leadership and relationship building skills, be goal oriented, be able to deal with conflicting priorities, has a keen eye for detail, and possesses excellent communication skills.
The incumbent will also be responsible for staying current on research and assessing trends and related to best practices in the field of library science.
Required Qualifications :
- Minimum two (2) year diploma or equivalent in Library and Information Technology;
- Minimum of three (3) years’ practical experience in an academic Library setting including virtual reference experience;
- Experience working independently within a team-based front line customer service environment;
- Experience with resource sharing including interlibrary loan and / or intercampus loans;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
Successfully able to multi-task and possess a high attention to detail.
