THE ORGANIZATION KAMLOOPS-THOMPSON SCHOOL DISTRICT

Located in the stunning surroundings of BCs interior the Kamloops-Thompson School District serves approximately 16000 students including 2700 students of Indigenous ancestry in 49 schools. Our District is dedicated to creating a safe caring and healthy learning and working environment that is inclusive of the diversity of their entire learning community. With an annual budget of approximately $251 million and nearly 3000 employees our District offers a variety of enhancement programs including : French Immersion International Baccalaureate Montessori sports academies trades programs a K-12 fine arts school and an elementary science and technology school across 35 elementary schools 10 secondary schools one Kindergarten-to-Grade 12 school one alternate education program one continuing education program and one Provincial Online Learning school.

School District No. 73 (Kamloops-Thompson) is located on the territory of the Secwépemc Nation and serves seven local bands and the Métis Nation in a large geographical area. The District extends to Pinantan Lake Heffley Creek Sun Peaks Barriere Clearwater Vavenby and Blue River to the north Logan Lake to the south Savona to the west and Chase and Westwold to the east.

THE OPPORTUNITY CEA IN-HOUSE CERTIFICATION (CIC) FACILITATOR

SD73 is seeking applications from innovative and enthusiastic instructors who are passionate about student support educational outcomes and fostering inclusive learning environments. Alongside partners in the HR and Inclusive Education departments this role will lead the planning design delivery and evaluation of a new CEA In-House Certification (CIC) program that will prepare adults to work as Certified Education Assistants in our District.

The CIC Facilitator will have specific responsibilities in the areas of post secondary curriculum design program planning virtual and in-person instruction and program evaluation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Design and Delivery

  • Develop and update curriculum aligned with School District No. 73 values provincial standards and inclusive education best practices.
  • Integrate trauma-informed culturally sensitive and inclusive instructional strategies.
  • Select and adapt learning materials to meet diverse learner needs and adult education principles.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure program relevance to school district and community needs.
  • Design course content and define learning outcomes that reflect current Certified Education Assistant roles.

Virtual and In-person Instruction

  • Deliver engaging lessons using a variety of instructional modalities (e.g. lectures case studies self-directed assignments group work).
  • Facilitate synchronous and asynchronous learning using digital platforms and tools.
  • Create a safe respectful and inclusive learning environment for adult learners.
  • Monitor learner participation and adjust instructional strategies to support engagement and student success.
  • Practicum Planning & Monitoring

  • Alongside Human Resources team members coordinate practicum placements at SD73 schools.
  • Prepare students for practicum through orientation and professional readiness modules.
  • Liaise with mentor CEAs LARTs and School Leaders to support student learning and performance.
  • Conduct site visits and provide formative feedback during practicum experiences.
  • Assess practicum performance using rubrics and reflective tools aligned with program goals supported by the Human Resources department.
  • Organizational Management

  • Maintain accurate records of classroom materials and resources attendance grades and student progress.
  • Schedule classes guest speakers and workshops in coordination with District staff.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies privacy standards and safety protocols.
  • Participate in program planning or committee meetings and relevant professional development.
  • Contribute to marketing recruitment and orientation activities for prospective students.
  • Student Support & Assessment

  • Orient students to the culture and values of School District No. 73 with an emphasis on inclusion and support.
  • Provide mentorship coaching and referrals to support student success.
  • Design and administer evaluations that measure knowledge skills and professional competencies.
  • Offer timely constructive feedback on assignments projects and practicum performance.
  • Support students in developing self-advocacy communication and workplace readiness skills.
  • Address barriers to learning through individualized support and accommodations where appropriate.
  • Program Evaluation

  • Collect and analyze feedback from students practicum mentors and other stakeholders to inform program improvements.
  • Monitor student outcomes completion rates and employment data to assess program effectiveness.
  • Recommend changes to curriculum delivery methods or support services based on evaluation findings.
  • Document and report on program achievements challenges and innovations.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelors degree in education or similar level of education in adult learning instructional design or learning & development.
  • Further qualification in Special Education or Educational Leadership will be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years combined experience in classroom instruction classroom support program design and / or inclusive education.
  • Experience working with challenging behaviours and developing effective behaviour plans and interventions.
  • Experience with various digital instruction modalities and software.
  • Exemplary leadership interpersonal organizational communication and teaching skills.

    COMPENSATION

    The annual salary range for this part-time position is $59463 to $74329 for .7143 FTE. Hours of work are anticipated to be 25 hours / week. Employment term is December 12 2025 until September 30 2026 with the possibility of extension based on the success of the program.

    Anticipated instructional schedule is Tuesday and Thursday evenings with students performing self-directed coursework or certificate training on Saturdays commencing February 2026.
