Who are we looking for?

Due to the continued growth in Ontario, our Architecture team is looking for a Lead Landscape Architect to support landscape design as part of our architecture studio.

This role will also support our Engineering and Design Operations for multi-discipline projects including rail, stations and transportation facilities, water / wastewater treatment plants, energy, solid waste, food and agricultural, environmental, and other industrial and infrastructure opportunities.

The Lead Landscape Architect will be responsible for the stamping and sealing of all outgoing landscape designs in addition to managing and growing a team to support all active projects across multiple business groups and markets.

Working with an energetic and hard-working team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in :

  • Work alongside our architecture, engineering, environment, and land development teams to create efficient and cost-effective landscape solutions for a wide range of projects to suit the client’s brief.
  • Independently design plans in response to client requirements with accountability and ownership of all landscape designs on smaller projects or elements of larger projects
  • Assisting with day-to-day commercial management of Landscape Design commissions to time and budget targets.
  • Supervision, knowledge sharing, and mentoring of less experienced members with the ability to delegate tasks and grow the team.
  • Interpretation and application of relevant client, industry, and GHD standards / including Ontario codes and best professional practices.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills to build solid working relationships internally and with key stakeholders.
  • Application of sustainable environmental engineering principles
  • Computer-Aided Design, 3DModelling, Graphics and Design Development

Specific Experience, Skills & Knowledge :

  • Solid understanding of Landscape Design, Assessment, and Master Planning fundamentals
  • Experience in the theory of landscaping, sustainability, construction technology, design, horticulture, urban planning, modeling and computer design
  • Experience in preparation of site plans, sub-division plans, and checking of well-presented designs, cost calculations, notes, reports, and general correspondence.
  • Candidates should be able to present their understanding of how other site and engineering factors may influence the successful implementation of their design ideas.
  • Robust inter-disciplinary design and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely with all Engineering disciplines.
  • Experience in 3D Revit modelling and BIM processes
  • A passion for design and innovation
  • Experience in leading and managing projects.

What you will bring to the team :

  • Degree / Post Graduate Diploma / Masters in Landscape Architecture
  • Ontario Association of Landscape Architects Certified (OALA)
  • 10 15 years of professional experience
  • Experience in mentoring junior members and reviewing / delegating work.
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures used within the Urban Design and Property and Building sectors.
  • Experience working with landscape design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Keyscape, and Artisan is essential.
