Job description
Our client is a well-established and growing manufacturer operating within a regulated industrial environment. They are seeking a proactive and hands-on Safety Coordinator to lead workplace health and safety initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

This role is ideal for a safety professional with experience in chemical manufacturing or a similar industrial setting who enjoys being visible on the production floor, conducting audits, developing procedures, and engaging employees through training and safety programs.

Location: GTA
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Compensation: $75 - $90K, commensurate with experience, bonus program, RRSP match, health benefits

Your day-to-day will include:
Health & Safety Leadership
  • Lead and facilitate regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee safety training sessions.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through employee engagement and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to supervisors and employees on health and safety matters.
Compliance & Program Management
  • Maintain compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Develop, implement, review, and update Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and work instructions.
  • Support the administration and maintenance of the company's health and safety management system.
  • Responsible for managing 3rd Party vendors such as external trainers, industrial hygiene testing, confined space programs, etc.
  • Coordinate corrective and preventative actions arising from incidents, inspections, and audits.
Audits, Inspections & Investigations
  • Conduct routine workplace inspections and internal health and safety audits.
  • Identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Participate in incident investigations and prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Track and report on safety metrics, trends, and performance indicators.
Transportation & Regulatory Compliance
  • Act as a resource for Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) compliance requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation, employee training records, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Support environmental, emergency response, and compliance initiatives as required.

You’ll be a good fit if you possess:
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of health and safety experience within a chemical manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, or processing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 standards, SMETA and ILO Audits a define asset.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Experience conducting internal audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Working knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to deliver engaging safety training.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and safety documentation systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC), or working toward designation.
  • First Aid and Joint Health & Safety Committee certification.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and passion for creating a safe workplace.
