Safety Coordinator

Graymont is seeking a Safety Coordinator at the Marbleton, QC plant to lead and support site-wide health and safety initiatives, helping to foster a strong safety-first culture across plant operations. This role plays a key part in driving compliance, continuous improvement, and employee engagement, while working closely with plant teams and corporate HSE partners to ensure a safe, consistent, and high-performing work environment.
Responsibilities
Manage and facilitate the plant’s training programs, including scheduling on-site training sessions. Review existing training and identify additional critical tasks requiring training, conduct incident investigations, and perform safety audits. Engage and train contractors so that we can operate safely and consistently, and demonstrate a high level of compliance with HSE standards.
Coordinate with corporate HSE staff to develop and maintain safety standards. Work with plant staff to implement Graymont safety standards at Marbleton.
Liaise with CNESST inspectors and representatives during plant inspections.
Lead and facilitate, as needed, accident investigations at Marbleton. Assist with the evaluation of accidents, first aid, “Good Catches,” and “Near Misses,” as well as root cause analyses. Use investigation results to ensure a reduction in future accidents.
Actively participate in the plant’s health and safety committee and promote employee engagement to develop a strong, active safety culture. Ensure that minutes from safety committee meetings are published. Follow up on actions to be taken by participants to ensure the effectiveness of health and safety committees. Conduct internal audits of safety processes within the facility.
Use analytical data to develop action plans for the health and safety committee to promote overall improvement in the plant’s safety culture. Work with other HSE professionals at the plant and within the company to promote the OneGraymont strategic approach.
Track, analyze, and present various safety-related KPIs.
Participate daily in the implementation and maintenance of the Graymont Operational Excellence System (GOES).
Responsible for organizing and ensuring the smooth running of the annual Safety Challenge.
Roll out and promote the use of the SC Culture app across all plant departments.
Work as part of a team, coordinate and manage multiple projects and initiatives, analyze process data, resolve issues related to plant operations, and contribute to the implementation of solutions.
Provide “on-call” duty on a rotating basis with the supervisor team.
Be part of an effective team within the plant, capable of collaborating effectively with other departments: sales, marketing, finance, human resources, engineering, and HSE (health, safety, and environment) within the company.
Qualifications
Proven experience in safety compliance and monitoring activities, including the review and submission of safety-related reports.
Proven skills in training, team building, and leadership.
A combination of three years of education or relevant professional experience in the field of safety compliance.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and listening).
Consistent commitment to a value-driven approach to problem-solving.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other professional/technical applications, with a proven ability to learn the latest versions of professional software.
Fluency in French and working knowledge of English.
