Job Description
In order to exceed visitors’ expectations, a Groundskeeper takes enormous pride in the high attention to detail they give to the property’s safety, cleanliness, and maintenance. During the holidays, they provide our guests a memorable experience through their immaculate decor.
Starting Rate: $20.80 per hour
We recognize tenure through our compensation. Hourly rates increase after six months, and yearly to three years. At three years the pay rate for this role would be $23.72
This position will start August- mid January, this is a seasonal position.
Job Duties Include:
Reporting to the Grounds Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Consistently offer professional, engaging, and friendly service
- Ensuring the entire property is safe and clean: free of litter, spills, gravel, and plant debris
- Changing of rubbish and recycling bins, emptying of ash tubes, and replenishing of wood piles
- Labor intensive work in the form of shoveling, chipping, digging, lifting, carrying, etc. with a strong attention to detail
- During summer months, various landscaping & horticulture tasks including weeding, watering, maintenance, and plant health care of lawns and gardens / containers
- Holiday decorating tasks with a focus on aesthetics including collecting/transporting décor from storage (carrying heavy boxes up & down four flights of stairs) to final locations throughout the hotel, setting up décor, hanging lights/decorations inside and outside hotel using tall ladders up to 18’ tall
- Pending weather, various snow removal tasks ensuring paths, sidewalks, stairs are free of snow and ice at all times
- Assisting with various outdoor projects and seasonal requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Your Skills & Qualifications:
- Must have a Class 5 Driver’s License and Driver’s Abstract in good standing
- Previous experience in a hospitality setting is an asset especially related to Christmas décor
- Constant standing, walking, and bending throughout 8hr shift
- Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 70 lbs., sometimes up and down stairs
- Comfortable working on ladders while holding/lifting items
- Must be able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
